Each and every individual is compelled to agree that the forthcoming Parliamentary General Election scheduled to hold on the 10^th of October bears an extra importance. For the first time of Sri Lankan election history JVP is competing in this election to obtain a Parliament representation. Hundreds thousands of people deserting the main capitalist parties UNP and PA (SLFP), gathered round the red banner of JVP have proved it true.

Even before dispersing the Parliament, PA govt acted so as to prevent JVP representatives from coming into the parliament.

For that PA govt hastily brought forward an election reform. The people’s active awakening against the conspiracy defeated them. Then the govt was compelled to go to an election.

Just after the dispersion of parliament PA took the life of a JVP member. So far the JVP is their prominent target of attack both ideologically and physically. Having understood that such steps won’t help in reversing a JVP victory, they have gone back to the early method of conspiracy against JVP. The PA is getting ready to unleash suppression on the party alleging that the JVP is preparing for an armed insurrection. Using that accusation they are going to obstruct and prevent JVP from electing considerable representatives. The PA govt intends to suppress democratic rights openly.

On the 24^th of August the president Chandrika Kumaratunga has brought forward a so-called Police Report before the (junta) Cabinet Ministers’ meeting saying that there will be an armed insurrection in the south. We hereby reveal this with utmost responsibility. President Chandrika Kumaratunga’s next step is to mislead and distract the masses away from JVP and if that may not be effective enough to arrest JVP leaders under the same allegations.

Revealing the conspiracy beforehand, we call upon each and every democratic and progressive force to come forward to protect the rights of JVP to continue in its democratic political practice. We call upon the people of Sri Lanka to gather round JVP banner to defeat the conspiracy of ruling PA Govt. The rulers’ fear of loosing political power pushes them to fright the masses and retain power. We appeal to the people of Sri Lanka to reject lies and false allegations on JVP and to defeat conspiracy in the forthcoming Parliamentary General Election.

JVP again and again appeal to the people of Sri Lanka to come forward to defeat PA govt that bury democratic and human rights with the intention of retaining political power.
